Understanding Present Continuous Tense
Present continuous tense is a verb form that is used to talk about the action that is taking place now, future plans, or the trend is going. 
Formula of Present Continuous Tense
The formula for the present continuous tense sentences positive, negative, and interrogative sentences following examples are as follows:

S + be(am/is/are) + V1-ing/pres. participle
The ship is sailing over the ocean.
He is smiling to you.
negative (-)
S + be(am/is/are) + not + V1-ing/pres. participle
The ship is not sailing over the ocean.
He is not smiling to you.
interogative (?)
be(am/is/are) + S + V1-ing/pres. participle
Is the ship sailing over the ocean?
Is he smiling to you?
Note:
The verb used is Transitive and intransitive.

Present continuous tense to talk about an action that was happening right now or around now that is not permanent or habitual.
The maid is brushing the bathroom floor.
(Pembantu sedang menyikat lantai kamar mandi.)
I’m driving a car to Bandung.
(Saya sedang mengendarai mobil ke Bandung.)
I’m paying attention to news about Mesuji.
(Saya sedang memperhatikan berita tentang Mesuji.)
He’s learning English in order to be a great guide.
(Dia sedang mempelajari bahasa Inggris dengan tujuan menjadi pemandu wisata yang hebat.)
Present continuous tense to talk about an action that will occur in the future.
I’m spending my holiday on Kuta beach next week.
(Saya sedang menghabiskan liburan di pantai Kuta minggu depan.)
You can’t call me this night. I’m hanging out with my friends over the night.
(Kamu tidak dapat menghubungi saya malam ini. Saya sedang jalan-jalan sama teman-teman spanjang malam.)
Present continuous tense to talk about a situation or trend that is happening, but not permanent.
Today some people are carrying a tablet computer wherever they go.
(Sekarang sebagian orang membawa komputer tablet kemanapun mereka pergi.)
At present, many teenagers are sharing their personal information on the social networks.
(Saat ini banyak remaja membagikan data pribadi mereka di jejaring sosial.)
